Job Description

Due to the rapid growth and expansion of services, this Chicago-based benefits administration firm is seeking a team of experienced MEMBER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES to provide administrative and professional customer service support to members obtaining health benefits by enrolling and educating members in the designed plans. You will be a member of a growing team and operate within minimal supervision within a hybrid work environment. Once hired full-time, company offers a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare coverage, generous holiday and PTO, and a pension retirement plan.

Member Service Representative Responsibilities

Professionally handle incoming calls from plan participants, medical providers, vendors, and medical partners for all health plans through excellent quality service
Able to work in a high call volume environment with the ability to provide quality assistance to walk-in members
Resolve any open issues requested from voicemail, handle regular mails and provide support to bilingual members
Enroll eligible members into the selected health plans based on the guidelines of the summary plan description with the knowledge of working with at least twenty-one (21) health plans
Process enrollment with accurate data entry into the benefit administration system through phone call or application form
Provide accurate benefit plan information to all members and medical providers; understand the differences in plan benefit options, such as HMO, EPO, PPO, Medical Home plans and in-network facility locations
Educate members on eligibility requirements, covered/uncovered services, plan options and benefits, and best healthcare practices via phone
Provide members with status on their medical claims and advise members of their benefits and appeal rights
Provide pre-service benefit and basic claim information to providers to help understand patient’s responsibility based on the members’ selected plans

Member Service Representative Qualifications

High School Diploma
One to two (1-2) years’ customer service experience in the healthcare, preferably in benefits administration
Ability to understand and provide basic enrollment, benefits and eligibility information
Ability to type 35 words per minute accurately
Experience with desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax and other office equipment
Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business, including effectively communicating with peers, leads, managers, executives, and external partners
Strong listener and attention to detail
Excellent people skills and customer service orientation
Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred
Knowledge of HPS or basys is preferred

Salary: $17.50 -$22.00 an hour
