The Job at a Glance

Dealer Relationship Manager establishes and maintains profitable, long-term relationships with automobile dealerships with the goal of promoting indirect lending. As a liaison, provides guidance, training, and support to dealers on the Credit Union's loan products, and tracks dealer metrics and performance. Maintains working knowledge of products and programs and ensures dealer organizations comply with Credit Union 1 policies and standards.

A Typical Day

  • Regularly engaged away from CU1 offices developing positive relationships between automobile dealers and the credit union.
  • Actively promotes the benefits of the credit union and seeks to generate new business opportunities.
  • Coordinates marketing of products, including participation in various dealer functions.
  • Effectively communicates credit union policies and procedures to the dealer.
  • Works directly with the underwriting and funding teams to resolve funding issues and dealer complaints.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prompt, friendly and accurate service to internal and external customers.
  • Represents the credit union in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Attend required meetings and training as requested.
  • Monitors and provides periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) reports in relation to indirect loan production, efficiencies, performance and dealer visits.
  • Perform other essential job functions as required or assigned.
  • Professional and efficient communications with all departments to promote teamwork and high-quality member service.
  • Effectively communicates application quality, credit decisions, and dealer portfolio performance.
  • Performance will be based on volume, look to book, and dealer portfolio performance.

What We Look For

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3-5 years of related indirect auto sales experience required.
  • Strong oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities to effectively communicate and interact within the credit union and franchise dealerships.
  • Ability to resolve problems that are somewhat complex requiring analysis of data and weighting the outcomes of decisions. Decisions are generally focused on job specific questions, such as loan underwriting and dealer performance.
  • Analytical ability, judgement, and ingenuity. There is a moderate amount of discretion available in the job.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Proven track record on successfully growing indirect lending portfolios regarding volume, penetration, and conversion.
  • Effective communication and follow up on buybacks, title issues and ancillary product refunds.
  • Microsoft Office products, Excel, PowerPoint, Sales Force, Windows-based PC.
  • At least 50% travel to dealerships. Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and dependable vehicle required.
