Account Manager
- Full-Time
Summary and Purpose:
The primary function of this position is sales and marketing across the nation, including procuring carrier capacity and the negotiation and brokering of freight.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as a dedicated Account Manager to high volume customer accounts
- Contact current and potential high-volume accounts for additional business
- Assign and negotiate rates for maximum profit of contractual carrier capacity
- Track loads and provide information to carriers tracing software
- Provide carrier with proper load information to ensure successful pickup and delivery of loads
- Profile all carriers, confirm active accounts, ensure accuracy of profiles, and make updates as needed
- Manage assigned customers according to established yearly budget
- Provide efficient communication with fleet to ensure effective utilization of equipment
- Analyze freight lanes regularly and maintain profitable freight (Analysis will include sundry expenses, pallet charges, unloading charges, deadheading, etc.)
- Utilize other Magnum companies to help maintain profitability
- Communicate regularly with Logistics team members and assigned carrier
- Travel between 10%-25% required
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in an environment where priorities and load schedules are constantly changing
- High level of verbal and written interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, carriers, etc
- Knowledge of business processes, transportation and dispatch terminology
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Participate in a team environment
- Familiarity with CSA principles and FMCSA regulations
- Goal-oriented and able to set and achieve company or personal objectives
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Education/Experience:
High school diploma/GED required. Experience with Truckmate (TMW) software is preferred. Or; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.
